Having released her highly anticipated debut album entitled ‘Who You Are’ in February 2011, Jessie J releases the fifth single from the album, ‘Who You Are’ which she describes as the song which “changed her life”. The British born female gained major success after releasing her album. She went double platinum in the UK and gold in Australia. Winning 4 MOBO’s (out of a possible 5), a Q award, a Brit award and many more, Jessie J has come a long way from making Youtube videos and writing for other artists such as Chris Brown and Miley Cyrus. Being inspired by Sinead O’Connor’s video for her biggest hit ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’, Jessie J released the video for ‘Who You Are’ on September 29th 2011 so far clocking up over 7 million views.

An acoustic guitar starts off this touching tune with the Cornish singers soulful voice showing off it’s full potential in the chorus. With heart-felt lyrics like “don’t lose who you are in the blur of the stars! Seeing is deceiving, dreaming is believing. It’s okay not to be okay” displays the female phenomenons ability to not only sing but also write bona fide lyrics. As electric guitars and a simple drum line are introduced, the euphoric feeling of this tune is truly felt and we can resonate with Jessie J’s emotional attachment to this song. Absolutely beautiful.
