Born on January 31st 1981 is the singer/songwriter turned actor Justin Timberlake. We first heard about Justin Timberlake in the mid-late 90’s when he was one of the lead singers of boyband *NSYNC. Whilst being in *NSYNC Justin Timberlake and fellow members of the boyband became a major part of the 90’s teen-pop explosion and that is where his career began.

In 1995 boyband *NSYNC formed, the band members were JC Chasez, Lance Bass, Joey Fatone, Chris Kirkpatrick and Justin Timberlake who’s mother ended up naming the band based on how ‘in sync’ their voices were. Soon after they formed and started rehearsing together, they were signed to BMG in 1995. Their debut album was released in Germany on May 26th 2007 and went to number 1. The band became an over-night phenomenon and were soon well known all over Europe. They went from strength to strength receiving multiple awards such as MTV Video Music Awards, Teen Choice Awards, People’s Choice Awards and many more. In 2002 the band went on a hiatus which ended up lasting longer than planned due to Timberlake’s blossoming solo career. They later disbanded.

In 2002, Justin Timberlake released his first solo album entitled ‘Justified’ which he wanted to have a more mature sound than the work he had done with *NSYNC. He collaborated with Janet Jackson, Timbaland and The Neptunes for his album and it received a very good response, ‘Justified’ peaked at no. 1 in the UK and went triple platinum in the US. Following the success of his debut album in 2002, in 2006, Justin Timberlake released his second album, ‘FutureSex/LoveSounds’ which received an even better response. The album peaked at the top 5 in over 15 charts all over the world, went triple platinum in the UK, 4x platinum in the US and a massive 6x platinum in Ireland. Timberlake claims to have been listening to rock music whilst writing the album and was inspired by artists such as David Bowie and Prince, however, the album has a more R&B feel with Timbaland producing most of it and also gaining major success and credit for the album.

Since his last album, Justin Timberlake has been pursuing an acting career and featured in many films such as ‘The Social Network’, ‘Bad Teacher’, ‘Friends With Benefits’ and latest film ‘In Time’ alongside Amanda Seyfried. As his acting career began to flourish, Timberlake announced that he would be focusing more on his acting career than his singing career. As well as being a bona-fide actor, Timberlake has also been actively involved in creating SNL shorts with the Lonely Island. Most notably ‘Dick In A Box’ which is one of YouTube’s most played videos.

We can’t help but commend Justin Timberlake for his singing career more so than his acting career especially with the incredible album ‘FutureSex/LoveSounds’ but we must say that Timberlake’s movies are incredible. Catch him in his latest film ‘In Time’.
